NEW BETHLEHEM ? Berlin had 12 placewinners, including three champions, and finished second in the team standings on Saturday at the Redbank Valley Holiday Wrestling Tournament.
Chris Miller (132 pounds), Blake Miller (152) and Stew Trulick (195) all captured titles to lead the Mountaineers.
Other placewinners for the Mountaineers were Emil Kiesnowski (106, 8th), Tommy DeArmitt (113, 4th), Joey Swank (120, 4th), E.J. Custer (126, 2nd), Braden Fochtman (138, 6th), Eric Darr (145, 4th), Bryce Fochtman (160, 3rd), Trevor Moore (170, 5th) and Mitchell Walker (220, 2nd).
The top five out of 16 teams were Redbank Valley (271 points), Berlin (212), Cocharton (168.5), Kane (139.5) and Smethport (136.5).
Southmoreland Holiday Classic
ALVERTON ? North Star and Meyersdale were among the 34 teams competing in the Southmoreland Holiday Classic wrestling tournament on Saturday.
North Star?s Levi Albright led the way by claiming the 220-pound title.
Other placewinners for the Cougars were Tayte Mostoller (120, 7th), Tevin Mostoller (138, 6th) and Cory Fritch (152, 8th).
Tanner Hetrick earned runner-up honors at 132 pounds for Meyersdale.
Other placewinners for the Red Raiders were Billy Charlton (113, 3rd), Collin Day (126, 5th), Gavin Berkley (182, 3rd) and Justin Dunmeyer (285, 8th).
Meyersdale was sixth in the final team standings. North Star finished 14th. The top three teams were Butler, Mount Pleasant and Greenville.
Turkeyfoot Christmas Tournament
HARNEDSVILLE ? The Turkeyfoot Valley Boosters Christmas girls basketball tournament is scheduled to conclude today.
Paw Paw (W.Va.) and Union (W.Va.) will meet in the consolation game at 11 a.m.
Salisbury and Turkeyfoot will play for the championship at approximately 12:15 p.m.
